Nail Products

Girls, girls, girls! Where does their clothing, accessory, hair products, and shoe madness ever end? Oh, and let’s not forget about all those nail products. That’s the last thing we’d want to do. After all, as we know, women cannot survive without their primping and cosmetic rituals. The nails are about as important as the hair. This is a given! If you don’t believe me, just take a look at the next female that passes by. I have to admit that I thank God each day that we men don’t have to worry about these redundant grooming issues. As for all the females out there, they seem to like them just fine.

I live with three girls. The youngest of these three is seven years old. Go ahead and take a stab at how many nail products she already has. It’s a bit ridiculous. The last lime I checked, she had over a dozen nail polishes. Now, I realize what you’re currently thinking. Well, why in the heck did I let her get them all, right? It’s not me! She has an 18 year old sister and a mother here too. They are so into manicures, pedicures and nail products that they were only happy to get her involved. Talk about getting them started at an early age. Oh well! What are you gonna do, right! Anyway, I suppose it could be much worse. Some little girls are interested in earrings and other piercings, but my little girl is sticking to the clip-ons for now. She can do them all by herself and there’s no puncturing involved. That’s the way it should be for a seven year old if you ask me.

So I hear the best nail products are O.P.I. I guess I wrote that right. My wife loves this brand of nail polish. She claims that there is a major difference in the quality and finish. What is your current brand of nail polish? Are you settling for the cheap stuff that clumps up and cracks off quick? Johnson and Johnson Contact Lenses

Johnson and Johnson contact lenses are the gold standard for corrective lenses. There are many options for anyone who has vision problems with this line of products. Corrective eye wear has come a long way over the years and Johnson and Johnson contact lenses have been on the cutting edge since the start.

Inflatable Aerobed

Comfort isn’t difficult to find in this high-tech world. The truth is we have so many conveniences at our disposal 24/7, that we’ve all really become rather spoiled. Well. That’s my personal take on things anyway. Take the ever-popular inflatable aerobed for example. Man have these things ever become huge. You could probably find one in any American household. I have to give props to the individual who created the first inflatable aerobed. It truly is a brilliant innovation. Not only does it offer a comfortable alternative when your real bed is not an option, but it’s also a synch to travel with and store anywhere.

Have you purchased one of the contemporary inflatable aerobeds yet? I think I was one of the first individuals to jump on this band-wagon. I got mine back in 1996. Yeah, I know; that’s ten years ago. Okay, so I really liked the thing.

Pick up a modern-day inflatable aerobed at Sears, Bed Bath and Beyond, Sharper Image, or on the World-Wide-Web. They come in all bed sizes to suit any individual or couple. The greatest part is that you can always add air or take air out to make it just the right feel. That’s how all beds should be designed.

Fishing trips

To some people, there is absolutely nothing more relaxing than being in a boat that is in some body of water. Perhaps the waves are gently rocking the boat providing comfort or maybe the water is perfectly still, giving you a sense of complete peace. When you plan a fishing trip, sometimes that is what you may find. My parents used to take our boat out for a weekend and we’d spend the days and nights on the water. My dad considered them fishing trips but my mother and I referred to them as being a weekend escape. There were times in which I did attempt to do some fishing, but mainly I spent my time relaxing, napping and reading. My mother and I would lay on the deck soaking up the sun. My dad and brother took advantage of these fishing trips to lure the local fish onto their lines. Sometimes they were successful in catching some nice fish, but more often than not, they’d be throwing the fish back in the water or complaining that nothing was biting.

Fishing trips are a wonderful way to escape and spend some time either alone or with friends and family. Even if you don’t own a boat or live near a body of water, you can plan fishing trips in nearby states or destinations. Music Notes

Each year when it comes time to see the Wiggles’ concert, my daughter has a certain costume in mind. I’m not sure where she got the idea of wearing costumes, but it is something that she loves to do. For a few years, she would not wear anything but a Greg Wiggle costume when she went, but this year, she requested that I make her a Wiggly Dancer outfit. This was not as easy as I thought it would be, because I was stumped at first about how to make the music notes that adorn their jackets.

We started out with a red tshirt because the dancer coats are red. I didn’t want to get her a jacket because we were going to the show in the middle of August, and I didn’t want to her to sweat a lot. I then had to figure out how to make the music notes. I could have bought gold and black colored felt, but I thought that would look too plain. The music notes on the Wiggly dancer coats are shiny, and she would want the same thing for her new outfit.

I wandered into the craft section of my local department store with the music notes on my mind. I wandered up and down the aisles but didn’t find anything. I didn’t really expect to find already made shiny music notes on the shelf, but I thought it never hurt to look. Finally I came upon the section that had ribbons, laces, and other adornments. What I found there was the answer to my problem. There I found shiny adornment that I could form into the shape of the music notes on her new shirt.

Once I got the adornments home, I had to truly think about adding the music notes to the shirt. I ended up using my glue gun and a lot of patience to get what I wanted out of the materials. Though I wasn’t sure a glue gun would be the best idea, it was the only hope I had. In the end, I was lucky that the music notes turned out as well as they did. If you would like to create something similar just take some advice from me. The shirt will look good, but make sure you never put it in the dryer. When it came out, much to my dismay, the heat has bunched the shirt up in odd places. That’s OK though; at least I know I can recreate the shirt if she needs another.

Gym Franchises

These days I often wonder if I should have invested in a gym or coffee shop. Either way, I think I would have been good to go. These two business concepts blew up in the 90s. It’s like all the sudden no one could get enough coffer or exercise. Such a weird combination if you think about it. One makes you thin and the other makes you fat. Hey, maybe I should have started a few high-end gym franchises with espresso bars in them. Uhh, actually that sounds pretty odd, but not absurd. It probably exists somewhere in this diverse nation.

Needless to say, most of us fall short in the area of fitness. We either claim we don’t have the time to exercise regularly, or we full-on admit that we’re lazy, and would much rather kick back in front of the “boob tube” with a bag of Doritos. Hey, that’s the American way! Well, be that as it may, gym franchises are also clearly the American way. People are making killings of these everyday. Gold’s Gym has to be one of the largest and most well-known. On the contrary, I won’t commend them as any sort of paragon. They screwed me over back in 1998. Basically the one I was attending wouldn’t let me leave. At least not without paying every month. They continued to charge me after my one year agreement with them was over. I told them I was leaving, but they just kept on charging. How’s that for a supposedly reputable gym franchise? After I finally got my credit card cancelled, I called the Better Business Bureau. It wasn’t surprising to find out that tons of complaints have been made about this same gym. Wow, do you think Gold’s gym franchises are a scam? I wonder!

When it comes to modern workout centers and large gym franchises, I recommend that you watch your step. I can totally understand your desire for a great physique. This is normal in our society. However, you should try not to get locked into a ridiculous contract. And be sure you read all the fine print. These lame gym franchises will shaft you if they get the chance. Well, at least Gold’s Gym will. Be wary?

Fresh Flowers

When springtime comes, one of the first things I want to do is to go out and get some fresh flowers for my home. I don’t mind winter so much, and I always loved the snow when I was a kid, but there comes a time when you have had enough and you long for warmer weather. I love the first snowfall of the year, but I love even more the first signs of flowers popping up in the yards in my neighborhood. Sometimes you can even find them popping up out of the snow.

Fresh flowers seem to remind you that everything is coming back to life after what seems like a long and dead winter. Though some people seem to hate winter, I see it as something that makes life what it is. Without the winter, I don’t think I would appreciate the summer and the fresh flowers as much as I do. Winter reminds me to enjoy what the warmer weather has to offer, and I try not to take one single nice day for granted because I know they will not last forever.

You can find your own fresh flowers, but you have to make sure they aren’t in someone’s yard. My daughter has a hard time understanding this, but that is understandable as she is only four years old. She wants to pick all of the fresh flowers she sees on our spring walks, and I can rarely let her pick them because they are usually in someone’s yard. Instead, I go to the florist and pick out what we have seen on our walk to bring home and put in a vase. The fresh scent of these flowers always has a pick me up effect on the entire household.

This is also the reason why so many people give fresh flowers to people on dates, or when they come to visit someone for any reason. You will be hard pressed to find anyone who does not appreciate the color and scent of fresh flowers. This is why they are always appropriate. They are also popular for funerals, though I’m not entirely sure why that is. I suspect that it is a reminder that even though one life has come to an end, the world continues. Though that thought may not be welcome when you are first mourning the loss of a loved one, it certainly is a comfort in the weeks to come.

Beaded Christmas Ornament

If you want to add some creative sparkle to your holiday tree that is truly unique you may want to consider the beaded Christmas ornament. There are many different styles and designs available. You can choose ones that are pre-made by crafters as well as professionals or you can make this beautiful holiday decoration on your own.

You local arts and crafts store is a great place to start for ideas. A typical beaded Christmas ornament design is anything but typical. You can be sure that no matter which design you choose you will have a unique piece for your tree. Making more than one ornament is also an option.

If you choose to make more than one beaded Christmas ornament then you should plan to put some time into the project. Most of the designs are quite intricate and involve quite a bit of effort and some practiced skill. However, the outcome is well worth the time and effort because you will wind up with either one great conversation piece or better yet, a collection of conversation pieces for your holiday decoration.

I have seen many different styles and designs with beading and holiday decoration. My favorite beaded Christmas ornament resembles a chandelier. Its oval shape has depth and texture naturally created by the crafting beads. The light from the decorated tree shines right through the ornament making the whole thing sparkle.

I was so impressed with the outstanding hand made Christmas decoration that I decided to make one myself. The pattern was a little challenging to find but there were so many styles that I chose a unique one that had the same look as the original one that I saw.

The one that I created is in clear as well as colored beads. I chose white and red for this particular beaded Christmas ornament because it suits my overall holiday decorating color scheme. Creating the ornament was a bit of a challenge and I think that my past work with beads really helped my efforts.

If you are a beginner with this kind of craft you may want to choose a simple pattern. There plenty of easier styles that are perfect for beginners. One of my favorite beaded Christmas ornament uses a traditional bulb. You simply make a netting of beads that drapes right over the bulb.

The netting project is a great place to start with this kind of project. In no time at all, you will be able to create any beaded Christmas ornament that you like no matter how challenging it is.

Artificial Christmas Tree

We live in Minnesota. There are many tree farms in the central portion of the state due to the sandy soil. It is a tradition with many people to spend a Saturday or Sunday afternoon searching for the perfect Christmas tree and cutting it down. The tree farms add to the economy of the state. Christmas trees are one of the leading exports from our state. Because we want to support our local tree farmers and because trees are very reasonably priced, we have always had a live tree for the holidays. In the last few years we have been discussing how much simpler it would be to have an artificial Christmas tree. It would mean no longer having the messy clean up that needs to be done when the tree is brought in and taken out of the house. It would also mean that every year the tree would fit the space that we have for it.

The manufacturers have vastly improved on the way the artificial Christmas tree looks. My sister purchased one last year and I had to feel the branches before I knew that it was not a real tree. She did have to pay a great deal for the artificial Christmas tree, but she bought it during the prime season. If you look for specials after the holidays you can usually find them discounted. You can also purchase the artificial Christmas tree that is pre-lit, this would really cut down on the work, however I would be concerned about having the bulbs burn out. There are replacement bulbs available, however you never know when they are going to take these bulbs off the market and then you are stuck with a tree that does not have its full lights on.

After taking out our Christmas tree last year and cleaning up the needles from the carpet, we decided that we would invest in an artificial Christmas tree for this year. We checked several post season sales, but did not find a tree that we liked. We decided that we would try to get one at a pre-season sale; this would also save us from having to store the tree over the summer.

This year the tree farms started airing commercials about how beneficial the tree farms are to the environment and also the states economy. After hearing this commercial several times we decided that we would continue to support the local tree farmers and purchase a real tree. We will wait and get an artificial Christmas tree when we can no longer manage a real tree.
